Apprenticeship designated trade

Trades are designated under the PEI Apprenticeship and Trades Qualification Act and General Regulations. The Minister of Education, Culture and Employment appoints members to the Apprenticeship, Trade and Occupation Certification Board (ATOCB). The ATOCB provides advice and is the link between the department and industry, facilitating a strong partnership leading to qualified apprentices and a skilled workforce. Apprenticeship is designed to prepare individuals, generally a high school graduate, and produce highly qualified and well-trained workers who have solid knowledge as well as specific, technical job skills for occupations in the skilled trades and crafts.

CONSOLIDATION OF APPRENTICESHIP, TRADE AND. OCCUPATIONS This Act applies to all designated trades and designated occupations. Designated trades have an apprenticeship program. When a trade is designated, it has either a compulsory or optional certification. A worker in a compulsory certification trade is a registered apprentice or a certified journeyperson.

On completion of apprenticeship training as per above scheme, successful candidates would become eligible to apply for recruitment as Tradesman Skilled, as and when undertaken by Indian Navy in accordance with provisions of stated extant Recruitment Rules & Orders of Ministry of Defence. 17. The training and certification is based on a national occupational standard, and provinces and territories participating in the program for that trade or occupation are permitted to affix a Red Seal to the certificates of candidates who meet the standard. To work in a compulsory certified trade, a license, certificate or apprentice/trainee status required. under the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act. 8 trades require a credential such as a license or permit to practice the trade under other regulatory authorities
